The challenge
Laguna manages construction operations across multiple sites. Their teams had been coordinating through a mix of spreadsheets, generic project tools, and knowledge passed informally between site managers. The information existed — surfacing it for the people who needed it was the bottleneck.
They wanted internal tools that matched how their teams actually work, with AI applied selectively where it genuinely added value.
What we did
We built a small dedicated team focused on internal tooling — fullstack engineering, AI development, and design. The team spent time on site, working with managers to understand their workflows before any code was written.
The initial build replaced their main project tracker with a custom dashboard structured around their reporting needs. Subsequent work added an internal chatbot for status and materials queries, mobile-friendly surfaces for site teams, and leadership reporting drawn from a unified data source.
What's underway
- Custom operations dashboard for active projects
- AI-assisted assistant for job and materials lookups
- Mobile-friendly tools for site managers
- Leadership reporting across the project portfolio
Why it works
Laguna gets software shaped around their operations rather than fighting to fit their work into a generic product. The same team continues to extend the tools as the business evolves, so each new iteration builds on accumulated context rather than starting over.
